Diff of two local files

Just downloaded version 6.3.2 to try out the file management aspects of WinSCP.
Prior to the install I already had KDiff 0.9.98 and PuTTY 0.76 installed on Win7 SP1. PuTTY was detected as the installer asked if I wanted to copy my sessions from PuTTY or not, I saw no detection of KDiff3 to indicate it was an application WinSCP found.
What I wanted to achieve is to diff two local files using the Commander interface. I selected one local folder in the left pane and another local folder in the right pane, then picking a file in each pane I was hoping I can do a KDiff on them without having to resort to using Windows Explorer.
With the two selected files I use the shortcut Shift+Ctrl+Alt+C to launch the comparison tool but nothing happens. This is true whether I have it configured for Automatic or KDiff3.
Am I missing something here?
Is it possible that comparison of local files is not possible, as all the help documentation does not discuss local/local comparison only local/remote.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.
