The WinSCP session is closed. So did you actually mean that WinSCP process does not finish?

If that's the case, can you send me an email, so I can send you back a debug version of WinSCP to track the problem? Please include a link back to this topic in your email. Also note in this topic that you have sent the email. Thanks.

We are currently using WinSCP Version 5.13. And we are calling SFTP batch scripts from our ERP programs but sometimes even after the exit command in script is processed that WinSCP session still keeps running and that causes our ERP program to remain in processing for hours. We have changed our WinSCP .ini to read only but we are still facing this issue. And also there are no errors in log files. This happens at least few times in a week. Please help.

Hi Mark,
I changed my job with parameter "/ INI = NUL", and after that the winscp.com worked perfect ... since that, I did not received errors message and the JOB finished very well.

The best (and recommended) solution is not to use any external configuration, see:
https://winscp.net/eng/docs/scripting#configuration

If you want to keep the INI file, just set it read-only to avoid WinSCP trying to write to it:

Hi Martin,
I found the problem when I schedule to start JOBs together, but I don't know what I have to do.
Maybe, if I create WinSCP.ini file for each JOB, could be works.
What do you think about this? Is it a good option to solve this problem?

And also here's some more information:
I made 3 different batch files, runs every 5 minutes. And it normally hangs once after 3 or 5 days, and the last occurrence was 5 days ago. so very strange.

Anyway, I will try your version, and may take a long time to have the feedback.

WinScp 5.9.3 on Windows Server 2012R2

Hello experts,

I made a bat scheduled script running, in which it will check a sftp server to download file with winscp, and the code looks like:

       "open sftp://%FTP_USER%:%FTP_PASS%@%FTP_SERVER%/" ^

      "cd %LOC_FOLDER%" ^

      "get -transfer=binary *.zip %LOCATION_IN_FTP%\" ^

      "mv %LOC_FOLDER%/%%~ni.trg %LOC_ARC_FOLDER%/%%~ni.trg" ^

      "mv %LOC_FOLDER%/%%~ni.zip %LOC_ARC_FOLDER%/%%~ni.zip" ^

      "exit"

Normally it works fine, but sometimes (only sometimes), it will hang up.
In the log file, I can see the exit was called:

But I can see winscp still running in the procecesses from the Task Manager, and the bat keeps running for more than 10 hours until I kill it the next day.

Why does this happen? and how can I avoid it?
