it's not a chown or chmod-problem, i can also overwrite files with winscp... but not when i move them from remote to remote location.

i can send you the log if you give me your mail address. log is not for public.

Re: Failure with error code 4 when moving remote files from path A to B, can't overwrite

Can you overwrite the file using any other SFTP client?

Please attach a full session log file showing the problem (using the latest version of WinSCP).

To generate the session log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. Submit the log with your post as an attachment. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you can mark the attachment as private.

Failure with error code 4 when moving remote files from path A to B, can't overwrite

Failure with error code 4 when moving remote files from path A to B, can't overwrite them if there are some files with same name (maybe same content) on the target directory.

Why??!

In my opinion, this is NOT an error... WinSCP should ask me something like "There is alreay a file X on path ABC. Do you want to overwrite it with the new one?"
