"put" multiple files not working

I am trying to upload multiple files using a wildcard, but only the most recent is getting uploaded. I must be missing something simple ... These are the pertinent commands in my script file:

option batch on
option confirm off
cd /<remote directory>       (server-specific information left out)
lcd R:\APPS\FTP3\FTL\MT_files\processing
put -transfer=ascii temp*.txt
