I suppose that you have log window opened. Please disable it. There is a bug, it will be fixed with next release.

WinSCP hangs during connect

Windows NT, http proxy.
WinSCP hangs after "Looking up host...." with error:
"Assertion failde: (LogMemo->Parent==this)&&(LogMemo->OnChange==LogMemoChange), file C:\Martin\Projekty\WinSCP2\forms\Log.cpp, line 77
