WinSCP crashing with Administrator privileges

Hello,
I have been using WinSCP for the past 8 months now to synchronize my FTP server with my network drive. It's been working great except I noticed today that a folder hasn't been updated in 4 months. I've been doing some troubleshooting and found that WinSCP crashes when it reaches a certain file. I figured that because I received an error that said something along the lines of "Could not create file" that there was an issue creating the file because the batch file did not have Administrator privileges.

After giving the batch file admin privileges the file almost instantly closes and in the logs it says
* 2021-09-10 14:44:34.755 (EOSExtException) Error retrieving file list for "N:\Product Development\PRODUCT INFO\Product Content\*.*".

Without admin privileges, the batch file runs until it reaches the folder that makes it crash.

I am completely at a loss here. Is there anyone that can help me.

Attached is the batch file and the WinSCP logs.
  • WinSCPAutoScriptProductImages.bat (1.74 KB, Private file)
Description: The Batch File I have been using. Has keys to the vault so this is only available to site mods and myself.

Re: WinSCP crashing with Administrator privileges

I'm quite sure that this is because the M: is a mapped network drive. And your Administrator account either do not have it mapped or does not even have an access to it. Try dunning dir M:\ as Administrator – it will likely fail too.
See also https://winscp.net/eng/docs/faq_scheduler
(as mentioned there, consider using an UNC path instead).

Invalid Argument

Hello,

I did what you said and changed the directory to the one you suggested and it stopped crashing when running as administrator.

Now I'm having an issue I thought running WinSCP as admin would fix.

It looks like WinSCP is encountering an error when it sees the folder SM-1T107BQ.

Any ideas?

I'm lost. Your last log file also shows a use of UNC path. Also the new problem seemed server-side. So I do not see how changing a local path can solve it. What exactly did you change to fix the problem?

Because I tried to make the file directory on the destination FTP and I had an error. So I called support for that company and they solved the issue. WinSCP was failing because it was unable to create the folder and then it would crash.
