Get a file from a direct ftp-link without reading directory / reading attributes impossible ?

I would like to download / get a file via a direct FTP-Link including username and password.
The FTP-Server's directory browsing and attribute reading is NOT ALLOWED, but WinSCP hangs on "Reading remote directory" and error-dialog: Could not retrieve directory listing.

But for getting the file, neither reading the attributes nor reading the directory content should be necessary ...

WinSCP does not support this. It needs to be able to at least find out, if the link points to a file or a directory.

I have added this issue to the tracker:
