Can't add "Type" Column to Linux Window

Hi there, having trouble adding and sorting files by "Type" in a Linux session.
not possible?

No "File Type" header available.

What prevents you from adding the column?
Don't you have the Type in the list of available columns?

I right-click on the header and select "Type" to add the column but it does not add the column to the window.. and therefore I cannot sort files by "Type".
