Error transferring file during sync

Hi Everyone,

I am experiencing the following error when I try to sync with a remote FTP site:

Syncronizing...
Local 'c:\sync\docs' <= Remote '/'
RoboCopy.dat
Error transferring file '/Robocopy.dat'.
Can't open file 'c:\sync\Docs\Robocopy.dat'.
Copying files from remote side failed.

The issue persists with this file as well as a couple other files. I've tried using different versions of WinSCP, however, the problem persists.

I would really appreciate your help addressing the aforementioned issue

Information
WinSCP versions: 4.1.8 and 4.2.1 Beta
OS: Windows XP and Windows Vista
Protocol: FTP
FTP Server is running ServU FTP Daemon
Command Used: winscp.exe /console /command "open ftp://user:pass@ftp.com -timeout=2000" "synchronize local -delete c:\sync\docs"

Thank you,
D

Re: Error transferring file during sync

OK, so it looks like you do not have a read access to the file. Maybe it is opened by another application?

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your post. I have confirmed the OS and FTP file permissions on my folder as accurate, however, the problem persists. Do you have any other recommendations?

Thank you,
D

Have you checked that you can indeed read a file, while synchronization is running? E.g. try to copy it in the same time locally.

Hello,

When I deleted the folder from the local computer and performed another sync all functionality was restored. I checked the file permissions/ownership and it was fine. I am not sure what caused the issue, however, it no longer persists.

I would like to ask you a question concerning a new issue I've encountered. When I perform a sync it updates the files in my folder without any problems. If I run the sync one more time it finds more files the sync. The remote location I am synching from has not had its files changed in weeks. Why it is when I run a second sync it finds more files to update?

Thanks,
D

Please read FAQ. If that does not help, come back.

Sync

Hi Martin,

I reviewed the FAQ and it does not apply to my situation. I am trying to sync files from a Windows FTP server running ServU to a windows client running WinSCP. Both client and server are syncing with the exact date/time and they are both configured for Eastern time zone.

I did a manual comparison of a couple files between the remote and local systems. I am trying to sync my local computer with the remote server.

File #1: 10/14/2008 12:00am (local) | 10/14/2008 10:57am (remote)
File #2: 2/27/2007 12:00am (local) | 10/14/2008 3:43pm (remote)

Somefiles have the correct timestamp while others do not have the correct timestamp. From the example above you see the files have the proper date stamp by the time is always 12am. Why is this happening?

Thanks,
D

Re: Sync

Are the local times, you have listed, those you see in local panel of WinSCP? If they are, I suppose you see different timestamps in Windows Explorer. What are these?

Hi Martin,

I came across this article concerning Serv-U FTP Daemon and files with a timestamp of 00:00
<invalid hyperlink removed by admin>

Could you please advise if WinSCP works with the List -T command?

Thanks,
D

No. I do not know what -T means. The article does not explain it.

Hi Martin,

The reason for my timestamp issues was due to the ServU FTP Daemon responding to LIST commands in Unix style rather than IIS (or MS-DOS) style.

When I attempting to sync files with the percentage (%) sign in the file name it keeps asking me to resync the file. I think there is a bug with WinSCP whereas it does not sync with filenames containing a percentage sign properly. Could you please confirm this bug?

Thank you,
D
