Session navigation using tabs
Advertisement
WinSCP has proven to be very configurable – the only feature I need which is missing from the current version of WinSCP is the session navigation using tabs. An option should be provided that allows open sessions to display in tabs, these are easy to navigate and it is obvious from a glance which sessions are open.

Re: session navigation using tabs
Sounds great Martin, I will wait until that version is stable and look forward to the functionality, are the tabs moveable so that I can position them in any desired location? I have been using WS_FTP for so long that I like to be able to configure WinSCP buttons in exactly the same positions as WS_FTP.
I am very impressed with winscp, in particular the ability to encrypt usernames/passwords with a master password. I have had sites hacked by a FileZilla exploit. FileZilla as you may know, stores its passwords in plain text in an unsecure location, I am no longer a fan of FileZilla as a result. I have been searching for a while for a good open source ftp client with password security. WS_FTP has the ability to encrypt passwords but does not use a unique encryption key supplied by the user so I always worry about the level of encryption it supplies... One of my main reasons for moving to another client.

Not yet. We plan this for 5.1.are the tabs moveable so that I can position them in any desired location? I have been using WS_FTP for so long that I like to be able to configure WinSCP buttons in exactly the same positions as WS_FTP.

close button for tabs
The tabs are very good functionality, a great improvement. Can I request that in the next version we have some tab close buttons as per firefox tabs. My preference is for a single close button 'x' on the far right hand of winscp, where it used to be on Firefox by default. Clicking on it closes the current tab.
Later versions of Firefox have the option of putting close buttons on each tab which I don't like, it reduces the amount of space for text.
