No idea what caused it. Best guess - was connected to system through VPN, and VPN timed out/disconnected...

I left the computer on during the weekend and today (Monday) it showed this error message. Probably this was caused by the VPN connection drop.

Copying files to remote side failed - System::FillChar

Started session with remote device, changed to root directory of remote device through WinSCP. Attempted a transfer of one local file from host to remote and WinSCP produced error.

Wasn't doing anything... it was just sitting in memory running since Friday 09/02/16 Just threw the error out of the blue?

I had a session open yesterday, haven't been using the app today. The session may have timed out. At this point, all I know is that I received the error message in a new window, as described here.

WinSCP was running. The device it was connected to had be powered down and restarted. Clicked WinSCP on taskbar and got the error.

System was using 30.9 of 32GB but 64GB of pagefile to play with.

Invalid access to memory - System::FillChar

This has now happened three times in the past week. I have only seen it happen if I leave a WinSCP connection open and then turn off the VoIP phone I get Ethernet through, and even then it doesn't always happen. I can just close down WinSCP every night, so I am not bothered by this problem, but I'm happy to provide error feedback if you want it. I am not sure how to get a more complete log, but if you tell me what to change in WinSCP I can follow up the next time this happens.

Same as before: I unplugged the VoIP phone and put the computer to sleep, and the next morning I'd gotten this error message. I did the same thing last night and no error message. I'm also connected over VPN to my work network; I don't know if that might be involved as well.

WinSCP was running in the background, connected to a Windows 2008 R2 Server through FTP (FTP server is FileZilla). The server crashed with blue screen of death, and this could have triggered the issue.

WinSCP has been open a long time, spanning several sleep/hibernate cycles. I'm using it to connect to some servers via VPN. When I went selected the icon of WinSCP (approximately 4pm MST on 12/22), I got the error dialog.

I reported this with the previous version of WinSCP and got your debug version of the program, but I have not been able to reproduce the problem using the debug version - only extended use of the standard program causes it. This might be related to samba mapped network drive not being connected temporarily, while it was open on the local side.

I did nothing in WinSCP to get the error. WinSCP was open, I stepped away from my computer, upon returning a considerable amount of time later, the error was displayed in WinSCP.
