WinSCP had been running for days (weeks?) but I wasn't using it when the error occurred. I returned to the computer after being idle over night and saw the error message.
This happened while WinSCP was sitting idle - ie. no human interaction with GUI or other actions performed. One or more of the sessions might have been disconnected because of Network issues.

Found it today morning after login. Never saw that before.
My Machine is running 24/7 for nightly jobs. Sometimes I keep connections open over night. (e.g. developing complex scripts.)

I was connected to my work VPN and went away from my session. It timed out like it normally does, and when I came back to it a few days later, I found this error from WinSCP.

I had been using WinSCP last Thursday. Today, Tuesday, I noticed this error box. I have been on and off our corporate VPN connection several times, which would have cut off the access to whatever machine was last connected. This is the first time I have seen this kind of error from WinSCP. Version 5.11.3 build 7995. It does look identical to another error shown below.

Illegal Access // Zugriffsverletzung - ungültiger Zugriff auf den Speicher - System::FillChar
This is the first time the problem occurred.
WINSCP is used to transfer data through a VPN tunnel, that has to be opened up using an external program prior to starting the remote session in WINSCP. Programs are then free to open their connections whithin 15min after opening the tunnel. Existing connections will NOT be terminated after that 15min window has been closed. I therefore have set up WINSCP to keep the connection alive, load a remote file after connecting to the remote machine, and save it back immediately. This keeps the transfer channel open even after the 15min time window. I do use Notepad++ on my Windows machine for editing remote files from within the WINSCP GUI.
I keep WINSCP as well as all other programs running and shut down the machine with hibernate or powersave. After waking up from that status, WINSCP endlessly tries to reestablish the connection and is successfull after reopening the VPN tunnel.
This has happend reliably ever and ever again for more than a week of WINSCP uptime, until this morning when I encountered below error.
WinSCP 5.11.2 on a Windows 10 Notebook i5-3210M CPU @2.5GHz 12G phys RAM 42% of which used

I don't know how this happened. I leave WinSCP up all the time, connected to a few systems, through SSH tunnels. The tunnels I use went down, but I'm not sure if that's related or not.
