Scripting the backup of \users\ folder on windows 7?

I tried running a script on the \users\ folder to do a full backup and it failed.

put "C:\windows\users\etc...

Is there a way to backup the entire folder without having to individually select the items?

The following did work, I failed to check the logs for the errors that were being generated.

put "C:\windows\users\etc... \*.*
