.cgi file cut problem

I have a funny problem when copying files with .cgi extension to a RH 7.2 box, because the xxx.cgi files are becoming smaller, about 230 bytes at filesize 38Kbytes and about 40 bytes at filesize of 600 bytes ??

CGI files are by default transfered using 'text' (or ASCII) mode. In this case the size usually change. Note that no information is lost. Anyway if you want to avoid this, force 'binary' mode on copy confirmation dialog. You may check 'use same settings next time' to force the setting forever.

The CGIs I transferred were compiled C-code and thereby binary.
